Mugo admitted her sacrifices to MMA, saying that she might fight in April, pending her management's approval of a fighter of her weight category and belt.

Kenya's Mixed Martial Arts ( MMA) fighter Felista Mugo is currently in the Democratic Republic of Congo ( DRC ) for a training camp as she waits for her 2026 season opener, probably in April.

Speaking exclusively to Radio Generation on Wednesday from Lubumbashi, Mugo admitted her sacrifices to MMA, saying that she might fight in April, pending her management's approval of a fighter of her weight category and belt.

"I have been here for a week now, the training is crazy as we go for three times a day with different coaches taking you through boxing, wrestling, and karate drills," Mugo said on the phone.

"I have to get down to 52 kilos, but you see, now I am at 60, so I have about ten kilos to cut down. It's a serious training regimen combined with dieting," Mugo added.

The Kenyan ace, is currently at the Elite Combat Training Center in Lumbumbashi for a training camp that has fighters from the host nation DRC, Nigeria, South Africa, Cameroon and Senegal, all training under the tutelage of combat sports, French company, Next Round Management, in a bid to prove themselves before the 2026 season begins with selection of opponents now a priority depending on prowess.

Mugo has reiterated her goals to achieve her biggest dreams, which is to fight in the Professional Fighters League (PFL), which has the legendary Francis Nganou or even Dana White's Ultimate Fighting Championships (UFC).

As Kenyans now cross their fingers in anticipation of Mugo's next opponent's announcement, it's sheer hard work and dedication for the Kenyan, currently pitching camp some 2,291 kilometers away from Kenya's capital, Nairobi, her beloved city under the sun.
